WE-ARE-Z
We-Are-Ze produce quirky, rhythmic indie 'wonk-pop' born out of many wine fuelled late night jam sessions in bass player Archie's studio in London. Their idiosyncratic songs are largely observational, yet fully accessible, inspired by weekend booze fuelled culture and the late night chaos found in many British cities and towns, the increasing acceptance of the plastic surgeons knife as the norm, the futility of man's desire for ever increasing material acquisition and madness in its multifarious forms.
‘...big, sing-along choruses, whirring guitar melodies and mechanical chords. As a statement of intent it couldn't be clearer; it's hypnotic, addictive and sure to be explosive when played live.’ The 405
‘Music with an agenda is hard to come by these days, but west London-based funk-punk trio We Are Z have no qualms about stridently setting out their stall.’ Q Magazine
"Step (jerkily) this way if you like XTC and Devo" The Guardian
BLACK DYLAN
Black Dylan is the cutting-edge new duo with a sound conceived in France, delivered in Denmark and set to thrill funk, R&B and hip-hop fans the world over.
The group features platinum-selling Danish star Wafande and his longtime collaborator and countryman Nuplex, aka Mikkel Andreas Thomsen. Vocalist-lyricist Wafande and producer-writer Nuplex have been friends for a dozen years, and the singer has been a household name in Denmark with a string of hits since 2011. But nothing they've done before sounds like Black Dylan.
Wafande and Nuplex's combined wealth of studio, songwriting and stage experience has the warm and familiar ambience of the influences they share, from Marvin Gaye to Sly and the Family Stone to French hip-hop. But that's all combined with an original, dark and edgy approach that sounds distinctly like the future of streetwise soul.
RUTH ROYALL
Hailing from Bristol, the heart of eternal trip hop, Ruth is making waves on the UK contemporary music scene. Fusing live electronic sampling, Ruth’s voice delivers as much smooth honey as R&B grit.
"Ruth, your voice physically bounced me out of my chair. What a night! Thanks!” - Jeremy Vine, BBC Radio 2
"What an incredible voice, an incredible performer and a brilliant tune" - Sam Bonham, BBC Introducing in the West
JUMP THE SHARK
A young indie, rock band with an impressive list of accolades. From being introduced on 6Music by Tom Robinson, to winning a 2015 Young Brit Award, to recording at Abbey Road; the Wolverhampton-based indie rock outfit are currently going from strength to strength. With a sound that’s been compared to Tame Impala, Fleetwood Mac, Blur, and Pink Floyd to name a few, they’re sure to become one of your favourite new bands.
“..huge riffs, killer melodies, group vocals and a guitar solo that sounds like a malfunctioning Dalek (on acid, of course). Jones’s smooth, assured vocal oddly matches the quirky, swaggering/stumbling verses.” - Fresh On The Net (BBC 6 Music)
‘Jump the Shark upped the tempo straight away, their jagged indie recalling the versatility of The Maccabees. Tasha Jones sits behind the kit, as well as sings, but thankfully we’re a long way from Phil Collins as her impassioned pleas bring the spiky guitars a welcome sensitivity.’ - Freshly Released
RICH STEPHENSON
Dubbed a ‘one-man musical whirlwind’ by Amazing Radio, Rich Stephenson is a folk-pop troubadour from the rural Yorkshire coast. His I AM RICH EPs have consistently made BBC Introducing playlists and his frenetic live performances have taken him to New York, Amsterdam, Budapest and the O2 Academy, London. His new EP is being launched in September and he'll be taking his sharp lyrics, bendy legs and acoustic hooks to Glastonbury, Beverley Folk Festival and Boardmasters, Newquay.
“Harmonies to die for… haunting arrangements and energetic live performances.” BBC Introducing
“Dramatic and emotional… an artist to keep an eye on.” Back Seat Mafia Music Blog
