Affairs

Flamboyant angular electro indie from Hull. Boasting some of the tightest jeans, slickest hair and loosest hips in the East Riding of Yorkshire, Affairs are a well-dressed quintet who have garnered a reputation for their ethereal and theatrical live performances. The band first met on a coach outing to Whipsnade Zoo where a bond was quickly formed through a shared love of exotic animals, denim and The Pointer Sisters. Their music contains elements that are both uniquely modern and nostalgic as laptop-made samples and loops combine with vintage Rickenbackers and dramatic vocal stylings to create a sound that some would describe as ‘audible chocolate’. Comparisons have been drawn to artists as diverse as Foals, David Bowie, The Smiths and Frank Sinatra. During there time they have supported acts such as Alt-J,Circa Waves, JAWS,Dog is Dead and Coasts, as well as playing along side The 1975 and The Family Rain.

Vinyl Staircase

Vinyl Staircase are a young band from Surrey whose originals are written using many influences including Indie music, Psychedelic music, Rhythm and Blues and Shoegaze. They played a selection of summer festival dates last year, have had several plays on BBC introducing and performed on a live session for Kane.fm. They have just released their debut single ‘Solitude’ from their new 4 Track Self Titled EP, due to be released in April.

Malory Torr

Often described as ‘quirky and unusual’. Malory has a rare sound using a combination of ukulele, guitar and banjo to create her indie/pop originals. She's a prolific songwriter , in the summer of 2013 Malory was featured as ‘Uncharted Territory’ artist of the week by Richard Madeley on Terry Wogan’s show on BBCRadio2. Her track ‘Heart of Gold’ was played on Dermot O’Leary’s show on BBCRadio2 in August. She was recently awarded runner up with her song ‘Utopian World’ in the national Song Academy Young Songwriter Competition 2013.

Drawing upon her mixed background, having lived in both South Africa and Mexico, Malory creates music with the lyrics at the heart of every song. Her inspiration ranges from the song writing of legends, Bob Dylan and Joni Mitchell to the alternative styles of tUnE-yArDs, Dr Dog and St Vincent.

Her songs are simple but impressive with an inherent drama that calls to mind Regina Spektor…’ John Kennedy XFM - Dazed and Confused Magazine
