Discovery was launched in June 2003, by Ruth Rothwell, Alex Kerr-Wilson and Katherine Melling to promote and give emerging talent a decent platform, to perform infront of the music Industry and public. Today Alex and Umong Shah are the hosts at 229 The Venue, London (last Thursday of the month).

 

Past performers include Ed Sheeran, Scouting For Girls, The Guillemots, Dan Le Sac & Scroobius Pip, Nate James, Alice Russell, The Correspondents, Eugene McGuinness,The Talks, The Carnabys, Louise Golbey , Laid Blak, The Bulletproof Bomb,  and many more.

 

Discovery prides itself on creating a nurturing environment for artists. The level of care and attention shown to the performing artists before, during and after the events set them apart from most music promoters. 

 

As a result of being seen at a Discovery showcase, acts have signed publishing and record deals, management contracts, won sync opportunities eg film soundtracks, secured International licensing deals , brand partnerships, connected with producers, agents, writers, pr and radio pluggers. 

 

In addition to the monthly showcases Discovery organises album, single and Product launches for both UK and International companies.  They recently collaborated with Dutch label Embrace Recordings for the UK Album Launch of  MY BABY's 'Shamanaid'.  Other organisations they have worked with include Nottinghill Music, Zimbalam Distribution, Festival Specs, Metropolis Studios, Ricall, Bmi, International Music Community, Ruby Records (S.Korea),  Dub Vendor and Warren Records. 

 

In 2014, Discovery in association with Westfield Presents and Imc, staged the first European festival in a shopping Mall. Summer Sizzler was held at Westfield London with Four stages and 30 emerging acts.  It was shortlisted for 'Best New Festival' at the UK Festival Awards and nominated for Best Music Event at the Event Production Awards. 

 

Discovery programmed and stage-managed a stage at Chingford Festival 2010, has hosted showcases during International Live Music Conference and Norwich Sound & Vision .

 

The Discovery team  assist with event management for parties‎ supplying Djs, live music and technical assistance.
